National Parks Embroidery Series

In October 2021, our family took a road trip through the northern US National Parks: Grand Tetons NP, Yellowstone NP, and Glacier NP. We also visited various state parks in Montana and Idaho.

This embroidery series combines different techniques and ideas. They are united by a similar color palette and architectural strokes in the background.

I designed these patterns based on photographs that I took myself. Since I was stitching on the road, these use a light and extemporaneous style of design. After practicing on paper, I sketched the general outlines directly onto my fabric, and then filled in the design free-hand, using the reference photo for detail.
